MADISON – Madison Women’s Club recently celebrated its 25th anniversary of making the community a better place to live.

Members and guests gathered for a time of laughter, remembrances and congratulations at their party on Jan. 19 at Highland Lakes clubhouse off Slaughter Road. “We had finger foods and anniversary cake to eat. We also gave away door prizes,” club president Cate Hewitt said.

Among the guests at the party, representatives from four local organizations thanked Madison Women’s Club members for the financial support that they have received from the club. Individuals from Kids to Love, Inside-Out Ministries, Hospice Family Care and Liz Hurley Breast Cancer Fund spoke to the group.

“We raised $800 for charity at the celebration,” Hewitt said.

Madison Women’s Club was founded in 1992. “The club’s objectives are to serve as a network for members to meet and share similar interests, to promote friendship among its members and to participate in community service. The goals have remained the same in our bylaws over the past 25 years,” Hewitt said.

“We have a general meeting once a month with a program, business meeting and food. We do various kinds of fundraising over the club year and donate the proceeds to local organizations,” Hewitt said. “We also plan trips and activities for our members to enjoy together.”

During the months of September through May, the club meets on the third Thursday of the month at 10:30 a.m. They hold meetings in various clubhouses of neighborhoods around Madison.

Currently, Madison Women’s Club has 55 members. Each member pays yearly dues of $25. The club does not residency requirements. “We have members who live in Madison, Harvest, Huntsville, Athens” and other communities, Hewitt said.

For the future, Hewitt said the club plans “to continue to have fun, make friends, learn new things and support our community.”
