Crescen-Dough tunes to ‘Music of the Night’

HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild has chosen “Music of the Night” for its 2017 theme for the 44th annual Crescen-Dough Auction.

In its tribute to “Phantom of the Opera,” Crescen-Dough will open at 6 p.m. on April 7 in the Von Braun Center North Hall. Guests will be ‘transported’ to Paris of the 19th Century.

“The auction benefits the fourth-grade field trips to hear the symphony that Madison and Huntsville City Schools attend each year, along with the symphony’s annual Free Family Concert,” Crescen-Dough publicity chair Cynthia Masucci said.

The evening will include a buffet dinner, live and silent auctions with items from fine jewels to one-of-a-kind parties, luxury vacations, beautiful artwork and unique gifts and services, Masucci said.

The festivities will open at 6 p.m. when the silent auction begins. Guests can enjoy the buffet dinner from 6:15 to 8 p.m. Activity for gift certificates will close at 7:30 and for silent auction items at 7:45 p.m.

The blind bid and other items of note will end at 7:55 p.m. Then at 8:05 p.m., the bidding contest for the live auction will start. Cashiers will open at 9 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild and its music education outreach. In cooperation with Symphony School and orchestra, the guild arranges for third-grade violin education for more than 3,600 children.

Thousands of area fourth-graders attend the free Young People’s Concert. In addition, children can learn at the hands-on instrument collection at Panoply.

“The Crescen-Dough Auction is a fun-filled evening of bidding, socializing and dining organized by the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild,” Masucci said. “The auction has been held annually in April since 1973.” HSO members will provide theme music.

Advanced reservations are required. Dress is casual.

To request an invitation, call the HSO office at 256-539-4818 or email info@crescendoughauction.org. Tickets are $75. To buy tickets, visit hsoguild.org/crescendoughauction.
