Rocket City Sweethearts to croon at gazebo

MADISON – The Rocket City Sweethearts, billed as Huntsville’s premier 1950s and 1960s girls singing group, will grace the stage for the Madison Gazebo Concert on June 8.

The sassy trio will sing all the favorites from the “Flirty Fifties and the Swingin’ Sixties,” owner, founder and sweetheart Jacinda Rose Swinehart said. Their repertoire include tunes like “Baby Love,” “And Then He Kissed Me,” “Blueberry Hill,” “Come See About Me,” “Lollipop,” “My Guy,” “Can’t Hurry Love,” “Chapel Of Love” and “Heard It Through the Grapevine.”

Swinehart and fellow sweethearts Sonja Eames and Heidi Crane transform into icons of the era with 1950s dresses, hairstyles and golden voices to match.

The Rocket City Sweethearts are open for bookings at any special occasion, party, corporate event, holiday get-together, wedding reception or other gathering. “For a flash to the past, and to dance the night away, book The Rocket City Sweethearts,” Swinehart said.

For 2017, the roster of Madison Gazebo Concerts offers a diverse schedule of musicians, vocalists and instrumentalists in several music genres. Madison Arts Council sponsors the gazebo concerts.

The concerts are held on Thursday evenings in June and July at the Madison Gazebo, located on Front Street on the Village Green. Concerts start at 6:30 p.m. and close around 8:30 p.m., especially for double billings.

Food trucks will sell tasty treats, such as sandwiches, artisan teas, fruit, snow cones and more. A MAC partner will host a free activity for children each week. Pets are welcome if Fido has a friendly personality and wears his leash.

Bleacher seating is limited, so concertgoers can bring lawn chairs or a picnic blanket to spread out under the shade trees. In case of threatening weather, MAC will post a message on Facebook on the afternoon of the concert.
