Get-together to benefit Sasha’s Way outreach

MADISON – The legacy of Sasha Dison’s compassion lives on and will be celebrated with a fundraiser for “Taking Caring of Paws -Sasha’s Way.”

The annual pet food drive in memory of Sasha will be held Aug. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Furniture Factory Bar and Grill, 614 Meridian St. N, # 200, Huntsville.

Sasha fought to win against Stage 4 rhabdomayosarcoma, a cancer that develops in the body’s connective tissue. She completed a 54-week treatment plan in August 2012 for tumors in the pelvic region and lungs.

In March 2013, she was placed on an experimental treatment. Sasha passed away on April 27, 2014 at Children’s of Alabama hospital in Birmingham.

To perpetuate Sasha’s goal to help animals, the TCP (Taking Care of Paws) – Sasha’s Way” organization raises funds to feed and comfort sick and injured dogs and cats. Sasha’s birthday coincides with the event at Furniture Factory. She would be turning 13 years old this year,” event coordinator Beth Mumaw said.

Sasha’s parents are Jonathan and Larissa Dison. Jonathan works at Sentry Construction in Madison.

The event on Aug. 12 will be held on Furniture Factory’s patio. Guests can enjoy hot dogs, chips, birthday cake and drinks. Larissa Dison will lead a crafts session for children and adults to make and cover a cross in cloth that stands on a base. Larissa will supply the needed supplies for the craft.

“Come and enjoy great food, meet new people and make a craft,” Mumaw said. “Your four-legged friend could be checked by the vet.”

Individuals can drop off pet food at Furniture Factory starting Aug. 9.
