Apply for MAC’s Arts in Education grants, gazebo concerts

MADISON – Madison Arts Council has opened the application process for “Arts in Education” grants for performances at performers for the 2018 Summer Gazebo Concerts.

“Madison Arts Council believes that art plays an essential role in the creative development of young minds. With our Arts in Education grant program, we are able to assist local educators with monetary support for in-classroom projects and programs,” MAC President Tina Clark said.

MAC encourages any teacher within the city limits of Madison to apply. MAC will accept applications through Jan. 15, 2018.

To access an application, visit artsmadison.org/teacher-grants.

MAC has established some guidelines for teachers who apply. For consideration for a grant, MAC must receive the application by Jan. 15, 2018.

Teachers can complete and submit the application online or by printing the form and mailing it with any attachments to MAC, P.O. Box 1929, Madison, AL 35758.

MAC board members will review, evaluate and decide on grant awards and the amounts. Award recipients and dollar amounts will be determined based on project submitted, educational value and creativity, Clark said.

The MAC president will notify all award recipients by email on Feb. 1. Applicants who were not selected also will be notified by email.

The MAC president and treasurer will present a check for the grant amount and a Project Completion Form to grant recipients at a Madison City Council meeting in February 2018.

In preparation for another annual event, MAC also is accepting applications from musicians to entertain at 2018 Summer Gazebo Concerts. “The process is a first-come, first-serve basis,” Clark said.

Dates for the 2018 Summer Gazebo Concerts are June 7, 14, 21 and 28, along with July 5, 12, 19 and 26.

“We are looking for bands, solo musicians, gospel groups, duets and trios for our 2018 Summer Gazebo Concerts series. You get the picture!” Clark said. “We will have eight concerts in 2018, and we are looking for some fantastic talent.”

Application deadline for the gazebo concerts is April 30, 2018. Musicians will perform on a volunteer basis and will not receive payment.
