Nighttime bridge inspections planned in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE — An Alabama Department of Transportation bridge inspection crew will inspect three bridges on South Memorial Parkway (U.S. 231/Alabama 53) on the night of Thursday, Oct. 18.

Traffic on Memorial Parkway will not be affected, but drivers are advised to expect single-lane closures on the city streets under each bridge being inspected.

The roads affected, in the order they will be affected, are Service Loop Road (the turnaround under “Useless” overpass), Drake Avenue and Bob Wallace Avenue.

Inspections will begin at approximately 7 p.m. if weather and traffic conditions permit. Each inspection should take one to two hours to complete.
