Taste the Spirit of Madison offers two great ways to celebrate everything Madison

MADISON – Taste the Spirit of Madison is expanding the opportunity for residents to get a “taste” of Madison this year. The annual event hosted by the Madison Chamber of Commerce and Mangia Italian Restaurant will take place over two days in April.

A day of shopping, food, live entertainment and demonstrations is in store for everyone coming to the 2019 Taste the Spirit of Madison Market April 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Then an evening of delicious fun can be found at one of Madison’s largest food events, Taste the Spirit of Madison Bites and Brews, April 9 from 6-9 p.m. Both events will be held at Insanity Complex, 100 Skate Park Drive, in Madison.

“It will be two great ways to celebrate everything Madison – the best foods, shops, businesses and music that Madison has to offer,” chamber executive director Pam Honeycutt said.

Madison Market will give 60-plus vendors a venue to present merchandise, including crafts, jewelry, clothing and pet supplies. Visitors can learn about business and civic services, such as insurance, marketing, education, martial arts, apartment complexes and churches.

“There will be live music, karate and dance demonstrations and plenty of vendor booths,” Honeycutt said. “Shop, enjoy food trucks and get a free health screening while the kids enjoy skate park specials. New Leash on Life will be onsite with adorable dogs to adopt. Best of all, Madison Market is free to attend.”

During Madison Market, visitors can buy tickets for Taste the Spirit of Madison Bites and Brews April 9. “Ticketholders can sample culinary delights from over 25 local restaurants and taste draft beer from local breweries while listening to the music of Groove,” Honeycutt said. “No matter what your taste, there is something for everyone to enjoy at this event.”

Some of the restaurants featured during the event will include Beignet Cafe, Chicken Salad Chick, El Molcajete Mexican Grille, Handel’s Ice Cream, Mangia Italian Restaurant, Mia’s Cafe, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe, Ted’s BBQ, Texas de Brazil, Urban Cookhouse and What’s Popp’n.

Supreme Beverage, featuring Old Black Bear, Blue Pants Brewery, Rocket Republic Brewing Company and Black Patch Distillery, will host the sample brews.

In honor of Madison’s 150th anniversary, there will be a blackberry dessert contest just before Bites & Brews. Local chefs will judge desserts made from Alabama’s state fruit. “Bring your dessert to the event between 4-5 p.m. April 9 for a chance to win free tickets to Bites & Brews,” Honeycutt said.

Tickets to Bites & Brews are on sale now, $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Contact the Madison Chamber at 256-325-8317 or visit www.madisonalchamber.com for ticket and event information.
