FCA PTL-Party Set For August 2

HUNTSVILLE– The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is hosting the 14th annual Power Leadership Training (PTL) Party/Concert featuring the musical talents of For King & Country and Anthem Lights. The keynote speaker for the event will be Sadie Robertson, a reality TV star of the A&E hit show Duck Dynasty, daughter of Duck Commander Company CEO Willie Robertson and granddaughter of Phil Robertson, company founder.

The PTL event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2 and 3 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the arena of the Von Braun Center. The general public are welcome for the Friday night festivities and concert while the two-day conference is for student-athletes in grades six to 12.

Two-time Granny Award winning duo of For King & Country have been a huge success in Christian music. The group, made up of Australian brothers Joel, 34, and Luke, 32, Smallbone, feature songs that fit perfectly with today’s pop music arena and are finely crafted into the themes of religion, prayer and God. The duo is now based out of Nashville and each brother have become U.S. citizens.

Also out of the Music City in Tennessee is Anthem Lights. Once known as Yellow Cavalier, the four-man group changed to its current name almost a decade ago. The quartet include Chad Graham, Caleb Grimm, Spencer Kane and Joey Stamper.

The one-time elite track and field athlete, Robertson, now 21, attends Ouachita Christian Academy in Louisiana and has been a multi-business entrepreneur and has done modeling and dipped into singing.

Student-athletes from North Alabama area schools will attend the two-day conference in a team huddle type atmosphere at numerous designated spiritual gatherings. On Saturday, inspirational speaker Ken Watson will be on hand to share his knowledge and experiences of overcoming life’s obstacles through his faith.

Those wishing to just attend the Friday evening festivities and concert can purchase tickets via Ticketmaster or at the box office of the Von Braun Center. Students looking to attend the two-day conference, those tickets can be purchased through the FCA and are $99 through May 31. After that date, the ticket price increases to $125. Their conference tickets include the concert in the arena.

Sponsorships are always welcome to offset the cost of such a huge undertaking by the FCA and sponsorship levels range from $100,000 to $1,000. Businesses or individuals wishing to assist in this extraordinary faith related event are urged to contact the FCA at www.northalabamafca.org or by calling 256-536-7333.
