Harvest woman and child killed in wreck on Balch Road

MADISON – Two people are reportedly dead and one person injured after a fatal wreck on Balch Road, north of Hwy. 72, near Carter Street.

Capt. Frank Mckenzie with Huntsville Fire & Rescue said there were two vehicles involved. The wreck happened Tuesday afternoon shortly after 3 p.m.

Alabama State Troopers say 71-year-old Linda M. Bippen from Harvest and a six-year-old passenger were the two fatalities.  Madison County coroner Tyler Berryhill said the two victims are related.

Bippen was driving on Balch Road when she collided with a pickup truck. Both vehicles flipped and ended up in the ditch. She was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

A 52-year-old Hoover man was injured during the wreck and taken to the hospital for treatment. He was the driver of the second vehicle involved in the wreck.
