James Clemens assistant principal and athletic director named new principal at Hartselle Jr. High
MADISON – James Clemens High School will soon begin searching for a new assistant principal and athletic director. Rocky Smith, who has been at James Clemens since 2015, was hired as the new principal at Hartselle Junior High.
The Morgan County school board approved Superintendent Dee Dee Jones’ recommendation Wednesday to employ Smith as the school’s new principal, which serves more than 500 students in grades 7-8.
Smith received a three-year contract that’s effective July 1 and will pay him $97,000 annually.
Smith was among 61 to apply for the position, Jones said.
“We’re excited about having him in Hartselle and looking forward to what he brings to the table,” she said.
Smith previously served as the first principal of Park Crossing High School in Montgomery. Prior to that Rocky was assistant principal at Loveless Academic Magnet Program High School (LAMP) and Booker T. Washington Magnet High School, both in Montgomery.
