Madison United Methodist hosting suicide prevention seminar July 8
MADISON – A free Suicide Awareness and Prevention Seminar will be held on Monday, July 8, at Madison United Methodist, 127 Church Street in downtown Madison. It will begin at 10 a.m.
The seminar will be led by John Hill, a pastor, and chaplain for the U.S. Secret Service and Alexander City Police Department and former chaplain for the Huntsville Police Department.
It is open to parents, teachers, counselors, youth ministers, coaches, chaperones and anyone else who desires to increase their knowledge of suicide prevention and intervention.
Program highlights include statistical info about suicides, risk groups, stressors that can trigger suicidal thoughts, correlation of suicide and mental health, self-harm activities like cutting and burning, suicide warning thoughts, and intervention do’s and don’ts.
