Madison Police hoping to catch “do-gooders” red-handed
MADISON – Getting stopped by the police is usually not something most people look forward to happening, but a new program by the Madison Police will have people hoping for that to happen.
In keeping with the spirit of the holidays, Madison Police officers will be on the lookout for citizens doing good deeds. “This may be anything from holding a door, helping a stranded motorist, exhibiting exemplary driving habits, buckling your precious cargo, or other means of paying it forward,” said MPD community relations officer Teresa Taylor-Duncan.
For someone caught red-handed in the act, officers will present them with a “Citation for Good Deeds” which will include a Chick-fil-A gift card, candy and other special items from the Madison Police Department.
Officer Taylor-Duncan said the program began last Wednesday and will last until their citations have run out. “We are hoping to catch at least 100 citizens in the act of doing good deeds,” she added.
