ADPH have tested ten cases of possible coronavirus since Thursday

STATEWIDE – The Alabama Department of Public Health said out of ten possible cases of coronavirus in the state, none have tested positive.

“Prior to March 5, Alabama was, as were most states, sending testing for COVID-19 to the CDC. Less than 10 persons needed to be tested based upon clinical and epidemiological information. Since Alabama began testing on March 5, at least 10 tests have been run, as of March 9. None were positive,” read a statement from the ADPH today.

“Numbers will change as our state lab works daily to provide appropriate testing to persons who meet ADPH’s testing criteria. We will be providing a weekly update of total numbers tested for COVID-19 starting March 13.”

The numbers will be posted on the website at go.usa.gov/xdg8r every Friday afternoon.

The state clinical criteria to guide evaluation of persons under investigation for COVID-19 can be found at go.usa.gov/xdfJ4. For any persons not meeting ADPH’s criteria for testing but physicians want to test them, they have been asked to work with the commercial laboratories of their choice.
