Number of COVID-19 cases increasing in Madison County

MADISON – The number of COVID-19 cases has increased by 11 new cases since Friday. The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) shows that 216 people in the county have tested positive since reporting began last month. This follows last week’s slower rate of growth in the number of new cases. Limestone has 43.

There have been four deaths associated with COVID-19 in Madison County and none for Limestone.

There are a total of 6,580 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama. There have been 241 deaths due to the illness. The department also reports 900 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since March 13.

There are currently 988,490 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 56,256 deaths and 111,583 recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University.
