MCS to hold second school supply distribution, donations needed

MADISON – Due to popular demand, the school supply drive for Madison City schools students is getting a second launch.

According to school officials, Tuesday’s distribution at Discovery Middle School from the first drive resulted in approximately 200 backpacks full of free supplies being handed out in a hurry. The supplies that can be used at home and in schools when students return to campuses.

“MCS thanks all the volunteers in the backpack stuffing and distribution of items such as paper, pencils, graph paper, composition notebooks, colored pencils, scissors, and other donated school supplies,” said MCS spokesperson John Peck. “We appreciate the partnership with churches, PTAs and other benevolent organizations and individuals who contributed towards the drive.”

Donated supplies for a second drive is now being accepted. Please drop off donated supplies at Discovery Middle School, 1304 Hughes Road, by 5 p.m. Monday, August 10. Drop-offs are in the back of the school in a container called “donations.”
