Burritt on the Mountain to host Spring Farm Day on Saturday

While we are in between storm fronts, the weather is perfect. Check this out for some great fun at Burritt on the Mountain this Saturday:

Join Burritt on the Mountain for a taste of springtime on the farm Saturday April 2 10am-4pm.  Visit barnyard animals, experience historic skills, and learn about life on the farm during the 1800’s.  Visitors will be fascinated by the sheep-shearing and blacksmithing demonstrations.  Come observe wool being spun into yarn, milk our faux cow, Boxy, and play with old-fashioned toys. You will leave with a new appreciation for modern conveniences after trying historic tasks such as rug beating, butter churning, and mattress stuffing!  Listen to musicians throughout the park play traditional instruments and music enjoyed during our Alabama beginnings. Families also can enjoy our Treasure Hunt at Gold Mountain activities throughout the park. Build a log cabin, visit the old country store, pan for gems, play pioneer dress-up, cook a pretend meal, and much more!  Visitors will learn the history of the Alabama 1829 gold rush as children collect and then weigh the “gold” they find along the way.

Regular Burritt admissions rates apply, and this event is free to Burritt members.

Go to www.burrittonthemountain.com for more information and admission rates.
