Aleasha Powers’ work ethic leads to ‘Employee of the Month’ at Madison Hospital
MADISON – Madison Hospital has honored Aleasha Powers as “Employee of the Month” for April 2025. She works as Supervisor of Receiving, Sterile Processing and Materials Management.
“Receiving this honor was a total surprise and complete shock. It takes everyone working together as a team to make a difference in our patients’ lives,” Powers said. “I’m honored to work with such a wonderful group of people at Madison Hospital where coworkers are friends and our patients are family.”
Powers’ nomination included these comments from a co-worker: “Our clinical teams know they can trust Aleasha to keep the hospital well stocked with anything they may need for patient care or surgical procedures. Aleasha is efficient and so hard working. You can tell she cares deeply about doing a great job.”
In 2011, Powers received certification from Calhoun Community College and was hired as a Surgical Technologist at Huntsville Hospital. “I first came to Madison in May 2015 and worked in the operating room on weekends doing urgent/emergency surgical cases,” the Moulton native said.
In December 2018, she returned to Madison as a surgical technician, specializing in the sterile processing of instruments and materials management of supplies.
Starting in 2018, Powers has held multiple job duties simultaneously at Madison Hospital:
• Surgical Technologist – Works in operating rooms, outpatient centers and doctors’ offices. Much of the workday is in the operating room to prepare for, assist with and clean up after surgeries.
• Materials Management Tech – Plans, organizes and controls the flow of materials within a company, from purchasing to distribution.
• Sterile Processing Technician — Cleans, inspects, disinfects and sterilizes medical devices. “It’s a crucial step in ensuring patient safety by preventing infections caused by contaminated equipment,” Powers said.
In August 2020, Powers was promoted to Coordinator of Instruments and Materials Management. In February 2024, she earned the title of Supervisor of Receiving, Sterile Processing and Materials Management at Madison Hospital.
Powers attended Northwest Shoals Community College for basic studies and Calhoun Community College to earn distinction as Certified Surgical Technologist. “I’m currently a Certified Registered Central Service Technician and obtained my certification through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association,” she said.
Aleasha and husband Todd Powers are parents of 16-year-old Wyatt Powers and Ruby Ireland Powers, 11 years old.
Away from the hospital, Aleasha enjoys crocheting and reading books.
