UAH’s Alexa Douthitt of Madison attends NCAA leadership forum

DALLAS, Tex.- Former Bob Jones standout and member of the UAH softball team, Alexa Douthitt of Madison, attended the 2025 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, joining nearly 250 student- athletes, coaches, and administrators from across Divisions I, II, and III for a four-day leadership development experience in the Dallas area.

At the forum, student-athletes engaged in leadership workshops, small-group discussions, and governance sessions centered on core values, emotional intelligence, and adaptability. Through collaboration and sessions on well-being and personal growth, they gained practical leadership skills, strengthened relationships, and prepared to make a positive impact on their teams and campuses.

“The NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum was an unforgettable experience,” Alexa said. “The environment was truly special, as it is rare to be surrounded by so many student-athletes who share similar goals, lifestyles, and values all in one place,” she added. “It was especially meaningful to see individuals from across the country and around the world come together and realize how much we have in common.”

“This experience encouraged deep self-reflection, helping me better understand my strengths, characteristics, and areas for growth, and how to use those qualities to lead and pour into others effectively. The forum emphasized the reality and tangibility of true leadership, focusing not just on ideal or easy situations, but on navigating real challenges,” Alexa explained.

“Overall, this experience was incredibly impactful, and the lessons I learned will stay with me throughout my college career, professional career, and everyday life,” Douthitt’s selection reflects UAH Athletics’ continued commitment to nominating Charger student-athletes for national leadership development opportunities. A UAH student-athlete has been selected by the conference office to attend the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in three of the last four years (2022, 2023, and 2025), a notable distinction given that each conference is limited to selecting only two student-athletes annually.
