Lace those running shoes for Heart & Soul 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run

MADISON – Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14 invokes images of candy kisses, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates and greeting cards. In another heart-related event on Feb. 14, the second annual Heart & Soul 5K Race & 1-Mile Fun Run will generate funds to help a worthy, local cause.

SpineCare Chiropractic Medicine and SpineFit at 11743 County Line Road, Suite A are sponsoring the run. Runners of all levels are invited, along with anyone who wants to walk the course.

This race will raise funds to support Special Olympics of Madison County, according to Dr. Anthony Houssain, Doctor in Chiropractic Medicine with SpineCare/SpineFit. One of SpineCare’s clients, Elizabeth Allen, won the Silver Medal for figure skating at the 2025 World Winter Special Olympics Games in Italy.

The course is an ‘out and back’ track and begins in front of the SpineCare/SpineFit Clinic on County Line Road. Then, the course turns onto Bradford Greenway. Due to insurance restrictions, strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course.

Registration will be open until Race Day on Feb. 14. However, SpineCare recommends registering early. Registration is limited to the first 100 people, and SpineCare cannot guarantee T-shirt size within two weeks of Race Day.

To register, visit https://lnkd. in/er_tN3jm. Through Jan. 31, use Code HEART for a $5 discount.

Heart & Soul will be an in-person event — rain or shine. The race fee will apply to registration, T-shirt and to Special Olympics of Madison County. All funds are non-refundable. SpineCare will accept additional donations to Special Olympics.

Runners and walkers can pick up packets at SpineCare/Spine-Fit on Feb. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Race Day, Feb. 14 from 7 to 7:30 a.m.

The 5K for Heart & Soul will start at 8 a.m. The 1-Mile Fun Run will start at 8:05 a.m. All participants can gather for the awards presentation at 9 a.m.

Awards will be presented to the top overall participant, male and female in the 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run. All entrants who finish the course will receive a ribbon.
