Madison players earn awards at Raider Rally Chess Tourney

MADISON – Players in Madison City Chess League achieved a solid record in the inaugural Raider Rally Chess Tournament at Randolph School.

Raider Rally was open to students in grades K-12. The following summary shows the players who took the top honors:

• Unrated K-5 Section Matthew Ramsey claimed first place with 5 points. Other players in the top ten were Luke Wilbanks, 4 points; tied for second with 4.0 – Alex Morrison, Colby Hummel and Anthony Hilderbrand; Liam Costley, sixth; tied for sixth with 3.5 points – Dexter Beales and Titus Miller; Nicholas Edwards, ninth, 3; tied for ninth with 3 points – Lin- coln Beales, Elijah Pollard, Theodore Edwards and Everett Black.

• Unrated K-8 Section (awards to fifth place) — Benjamin Clayton, first, 4.5; William Pamperin, second, 4; Benjamin Brigance, third, 3; tied for third with 3 points, Joseph Pillsbury and Liam Buckley.

• K-3 Under 300 Section (awards to fifth place) — Milton Yarbrough, first, Madison Elementary School, 5; Zachary Richardson, second, Mill Creek Elementary School, 4; tie for second with 4 points – Sota Nakashita, Columbia Elementary School and Aarav Kar, Randolph School; William Palmer, fifth, Westminster Academy, 3.

• Team Awards in K-3 Under 300 — Mill Creek Elementary School, first, Zachary Richardson and Sawyer Tranum.

• K-3 Section (awards to fifth place, plus ties) — Rishika Baipu, first, Madison Elementary School, 5; Yuan Su, second, Rainbow Elementary School, 4; Eli Walker, tied for second, Randolph School, 4; Henry Saulters, fourth, Rainbow Elementary School, 2.5; Ryder Nichols, fifth, Randolph, 2; tie for fifth with 2 points Archer Kim, Madison Elementary School and Lucy Saulters, Rainbow Elementary School.

• Team Awards in K-3 — Rainbow Elementary School, first, Yuan Su, Henry Saulters, Lucy Saulters and Cash Giuffre; Randolph, second, Eli Walker and Ryder Nichols.

• K-5 Section — Rais Nichols, first, Randolph, 4.5; Ananth Ravishekar, second, Mill Creek Elementary School, 4; tie for second with 4 points – Bode Atkins, Home School and Aryaa Sathees, Columbia Elementary School; Charlie Saulters, fifth, Rainbow Elementary School, 3.5; Samuel Liao, sixth, Madison Elementary School, 3; tie for sixth with 3 points – Vincent Grenon and Levi Ulrich, Randolph, Arjun Sathees, Columbia Elementary School, and Prudhvi Paturu, Rainbow Elementary School.

• Team Awards in K-5 — Mill Creek Elementary School, first place, Ananth Ravishekar, Kolby Grissim, Talon Busby and Pranav Dua; Randolph, second, Rais Nichols, Vincent Grenon and Levi Ulrich; tie for second – Rainbow Elementary School, Charlie Saulters, Prudhvi Paturu, Spencer Ragland and Shivaank Jindal.

• K-8 Section — Lucas Osipychev, first, Journey Middle School, 4; Gopika Baipu, tie for first, Journey, 4; Abigail Barbre, third, Discovery Middle School, 3.5; Dennis Lenski, tie for third, Journey, 3.5; Wyatt Dunlap, fifth, Journey, 3.

• Team Awards in K-8 – Journey, first, Lucas Osipychev, Gopika Baipu, Dennis Lenski, Wyatt Dunlap and Mason Harbin; Randolph, second, Parker Klein, Luke Mailey and Charlie Wood.
