Former Madison substitute teacher arrested for sex crime

MADISON – A former substitute school teacher with Madison City Schools was arrested Wednesday and charged with a sex crime. According to the Madison Police Department, they conducted a an investigation with the school district into inappropriate contact by a substitute teacher towards a student. It resulted in the felony arrest of JB Burt, age 36, a former substitute teacher who most recently worked at Heritage Elementary School.
Burt was charged with “School Employee Sexual Contact With Student Under the Age of 19” and was transported to the Madison County Jail. His bond is set at $15,000.
Due to the age of the victim, MPD said they can release no further information at this time.
