Students from Madison City Schools excel in Youth Leadership Development Program

MADISON – Madison City Schools Instruction and Career Tech celebrated the outstanding achievements of Madison City Schools students who participated in the Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP) in Madison County.

YLDP is a premier leadership experience designed to equip high school students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to become effective leaders in their schools and communities. The county chapter is hosted at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and led by Dr. Bryan Samuel and Chris Smith.

YLDP brings together students from across the county for handson leadership training, collaboration, and community engagement.

Students from Bob Jones High School and James Clemens High School have represented Madison City Schools with excellence this year, demonstrating strong leadership and commitment. MCS student leaders include: Hayes Jones (James Clemens High School), elected Madison County Chapter Vice President for 2025–2026 Sofia Ojeda (James Clemens High School), elected Public Relations Officer Students earning prestigious YLDP scholarships: Sofia Ojeda (James Clemens High School), recipient of The University of Alabama scholarship valued at $11,684 per year for four years, awarded in honor of Commander George Coker Autumn Glover (Bob Jones High School), recipient of The University of Alabama YLDP Scholarship valued at $3,718 per year for four years Hayes Jones (James Clemens High School), recipient of the Senator Jabo Waggoner $1,000 cash scholarship Lily Cook (Bob Jones High School), recipient of the Mrs. Liz Huntley $1,000 cash scholarship
