Fantasy Playhouse announces new season, tickets on sale starting today

HUNTSVILLE – Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy (FPCTA) is thrilled to reveal its full 66th-season lineup, from the Mainstage productions to the Academy musical- theater showcases.

Across enchanted oceans, shadowed winters, unexpected friendships, and impossible dreams, this season celebrates the courage it takes to begin. Each story reminds us that even the smallest choice—to hope, to believe, to move forward with bravery—can spark an extraordinary adventure. Because every epic journey starts with one little step. FPCTA’s 66th season is presented by Redstone Federal Credit Union.

FPCTA’s Mainstage productions begin on the Boulevard in September with The Little Mermaid, adapted by Stephen Tyler Davis; followed by The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, adapted by Don Quinn, based on the works of C.S. Lewis in February 2027; and rounding out the season is Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach TYA in June 2027.

SEASON EXTRAS: Returning for its 37th year as FPCTA’s annual holiday tradition is A Christmas Carol, adapted by Cherie Evans, at the Von Braun Center Playhouse in December 2026. Additional special events for the year include the return of the popular winter cabaret series, Holiday on the Boulevard in December 2026, and a brand new summer cabaret, Summer on the Boulevard, in 2027.

Individual tickets go on sale July 1. For more information about each show, including performance dates and locations, please visit www.fantasyplayhouse. org/mainstage Now in its second year, FPCTA’s Theater for Young Audience Series begins with Shakespeare in Love & War (September 2026), followed by A Not So Scary Christmas Carol (December 2026), Schoolhouse Funk (February 2027), and The Little Engine That Could (July 2027). Shakespeare in Love & War and Schoolhouse Funk are presented in partnership with Alabama A&M University as part of the workforce development program, now in its third year. Reservations for field trips for Shakespeare in Love & War, A Not So Scary Christmas Carol, and Schoolhouse Funk will open in June 2026. For inquiries about field trip reservations, please email FieldTrips@FantasyPlayhouse.com Finally, the Academy ‘26-’27 season is ready to fly to new heights. Starting with the fall performance showcase, Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR., the spring performance showcase, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory JR., and ending the season is the BRAND NEW musical theater adaptation of How To Train Your Dragon JR. Registration for the fall semester is now open. Interested parents or guardians can register their student online at www.fantasyplayhouse. org/classes Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy (FPCTA) provides theatre arts access through production, education, and outreach, reaching tens of thousands of residents annually, the majority of whom are children and youth. FPCTA enriches the lives of children and families through theatre and arts education, encouraging students to become self-confident, academically successful, creative-thinking citizens who are more likely to invest in their communities as adults.

FPCTA’s core programs include live children’s theatre productions, classes, camps, workshops, private lessons, and educational outreach through after-school classes and touring programs. Recognizing the transformative power theatre arts can have in the life of a child, FPCTA prioritizes theatre arts access for all by engaging local under-resourced communities.
