Elite Sports features elite therapy and training
MADISON – Former Bob Jones All-State basketball player and athletic scholarship recipient to UAB Jasmine (Green) Felder has lived through numerous injuries in her years of playing basketball, which would eventually force her to walk away from her athletic endeavors at UAB. Her experiences led her to earn not only a doctorate’s degree in physical therapy, but her expertise in recovering from injuries and rehabilitation for a chance to perform at her best allowed her and her husband, D.J., to open Elite Sports & Performance Academy where she feels they have something special and elite that sets them apart from others.
“My experience. I lived it and understand the demands of going through injuries, everyday life and how correct therapy can make a difference in recovery and rebuild,” said Felder.
The 36-year old, 2009 graduate of Bob Jones High, leads ESPA x Therapy, providing orthopedic physical therapy, dry needling and TMJ treatment designed to restore movement, prevent injury and accelerate recovery. Her evidence-based approach helps athletes transition from rehab to peak performance. For D.J., also 36, he specializes in basketball-specific training. He is head floor coach at Shoot 360 and serves as the head coach of the boys’ junior varsity team at Bob Jones and an assistant coach for the varsity squad.
For Dr. Felder, she was recently named to the Bob Jones High School Hall of Fame and continues her work leading the physical therapy and return-to-performance side of the business. She assists athletes and active adults recover from injury, move better and return to activities they love.
The Felders have three children, ages 3, 5 and 7. Their oldest, Jolie, has Type 1 Diabetes and the special care the entire family provides has been parallel to the work displayed at Elite Sports & Performance Academy. Felder added, “Our family’s experience with Jolie has deepened our appreciation for the care and preparation that help children participate in the things they love.”
Elite Sports & Performance Academy is located at 970 Balch Road. The phone number is 256-987-5591 and the website is available at www.espaofal.com.
A complete in-depth look at Dr. Felder and her past experiences with her health and the career she has built helping the next generation of athletes in the immediate community she calls home will be available in the upcoming December issue of the Madison Living Magazine.
