Athens State University Director speaks to Madison Newcomers
Dr. Diane Sauers, Director of the Center for Lifelong Learning, Athens
State University was the keynote speaker at the Madison Newcomers
meeting held this past Thursday.

Corporation administering assessments for the National Assessment for
the National Assessment of Educational Progress in Florida and
Alabama. She has taught in the School of Education at the University
of Mississippi and The College of Arts and Sciences at the University
of South Florida. Sauers encouraged those in attendance to take
advantage of the various classes and opportunities the Center for
Lifelong Learning offers. Founded in 2010, the Center for Lifelong
Learning is operated as a self-supporting organization and offers a
diverse educational experience. “You will find a wide variety of
innovative, high quality, flexible programs for personal or career
development,” Sauers said. “The center has much to offer the Madison
community,” Newcomer’s Vice President, Lisa Anderson said.
The Madison Newcomer’s Club is open to any resident of Madison or
Madison County. “If you would like to meet friends, become acquainted
with the City of Madison and Madison County and find people who share
your hobbies or special interests, the Madison Newcomer’s Club is for
you,” Anderson said. The group meets the second Thursday of every
month except July and December at 347 Hughes Road, Madison, AL.
Special interest groups such as book club, lunch bunch, and take time
for tea are also offered at other times during the month. “We would
love to welcome anyone eager to meet new people and become involved in
our activities.”
