IMS annual fundraiser coming soon
The Intermission Mission Service, a congregation-driven network of various religions who come together to celebrate as one.
The organization is hosting its annual dinner Thursday Aug. 25 at Trinity United Methodist in honor of those who have been affected by April’s tornado disaster, the theme of the Event is “After the Storm.”
Connie Gieb is a member of the Interfaith Mission Service who say’s this is not just an organization, but “an absolutely super thing.”
“This theme was most appropriate being that several leaders in the community have taken on major roles to help out the victims,” Gieb said.
The Annual Dinner is the Interfaith Mission Service’s most important fundraiser of the year, enabling all of the ministry’s plans to become realities, shaping the life of the community.
The evening will begin at sundown, around 7:30, with the end of the Ramadan fast.
The speaker for the evening will be Ruby Ismail of Connecting Cultures. Connecting Cultures, Inc., is a training specialist with more than 15 years of experience in the areas of cross-cultural communication, cultural competency, Arab and American cultures, Islamic awareness and religious diversity.
Forty members make up the IMS congregation, however Gieb say’s they need more. The members include people from the Islamic and Jewish religions.
“There is one mutual goal and endeavor and that is to get to know each other,” Gieb said.
There are several organizations that fall under the IMS; those organizations include CASA, Lunch-in Learn, Adopt-a-family, and a host of other services.
