Mustangs take New Hope
This game has a lot riding on it as both teams need the win in the region. Madison Academy started quickly with a quick stop and a touchdown run by Khyle Jackson.
The Mustangs led 15-0 after a long Kerryon Johnson punt return and Khyle Jackson’s second touchdown run of the game. A third three and out by the Indians gave MA the ball back again. This time it would be a Hunter Olive 55 yard touchdown run on first and twenty that would push the score up to 22-0 with 2:50 remaining in the first quarter.
The second quarter began with a play action touchdown pass to Colby Crossfield from Hunter Olive to put the Mustangs up 28-0 at the half. The only Indian drive to reach scoring territory was snuffed out on a Kerryon Johnson interception in the end zone.
The second half began with a prolonged drive by the Mustangs which ended with a Marcus Sease touchdown run. The Mustang defense proved too much as they continually pinned the New Hope offense back deep inside their own territory. A bad snap on a punt gave the Mustang offense great field position and they would capitalize with a Logan Hamlett touchdown to push the score up to 41-0 at the end of three quarters.
The fourth quarter saw substitutions on both sides of the ball for the Mustangs. Logan Hamlett would intercept a pass on defense then later punched it in for a touchdown, his second of the game. A blocked punt was then returned for a touchdown by Hamlett and the Indians fumbled the kickoff giving the Mustangs another possession late in the 4th. The Indians ran the clock out and gave the Mustangs a 55-0 victory in an important region contest.
