Mustang defense smothers Pisgah

This important 3A region 7 match-up between Madison Academy and Pisgah began quickly as the Mustangs scored on their opening drive.
Hunter Olive tossed a perfect go route to Nick Haas who scored his third touchdown in the past two weeks.
The Mustang defense held on Pisgah’s first possession, giving the MA offense the ball back near midfield. A missed field goal would be the result of the next Mustang possession. The Pisgah offense would then run out the first quarter, keeping the score at 7-0. The second quarter continued the Pisgah drive, which came to a halt at the Mustang 40.
The third Madison Academy drive began ominously with a false start penalty and a rush for no gain, followed by a sack. The drive continued however after a busted play run by Hunter Olive and an eleven yard run by Khyle Jackson. The Jekyll and Hyde drive continued until a failed fourth down conversion gave the ball back to Pisgah. After a punt, the MA offense returned to the field with just over three minutes remaining. With about 40 seconds remaining, Hunter Olive would scramble into the end zone making the halftime score 14-0.
The second half started with the ball in Pisgah’s control. A stalled drive would give the ball back to the Mustangs, but three consecutive plays that lost yardage would result in Chandler Trach’s first punt of the night. The Mustang defense would respond and forced another Pisgah three and out. A prolonged drive by Madison Academy would last through the end of the third quarter culminating with a Jackson touchdown run. Trach’s third extra point would bring the total to 21-0 early in the fourth quarter. The Pisgah offense was unable to move the ball and then a bad snap would give the Mustangs the ball inside the 20-yard line. A fantastic catch by Trach would put Madison Academy on the doorstep and fullback Marcus Sease would knock the door down pushing the score to 28-0. The stifling defense of Madison Academy would force another punt, and on the second play from scrimmage, Logan Hamlett would break loose for a 55-yard touchdown run. This brought the count to 35-0 with only 4:30 left in the game. As was the theme for the majority of this game, the Mustang defense was simply too much for Pisgah’s offense. Madison Academy would get the ball back on downs and ran out the clock. The final score would be Madison Academy 35 and Pisgah 0 in this region 7 contest.
