MADISON – Dinner with the Drumline promises good food and even better entertainment with percussionists in the indoor drumline at Bob Jones High School.

The annual fundraiser on March 19 will start with dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. Then at 7:30 p.m., the drumline will perform in the main gym.

“The drumline will provide individual entertainment during the dinner portion of the evening and conclude the evening with a full performance of the 2013 competitive program, ‘From the Ashes,'” parent volunteer Kathryn Barr said.

“This event has become a much anticipated tradition and showcases the talents of the indoor drumline and serves as a fundraiser,” Barr said.

Lawlers Barbecue in Madison will cater the meal, which will include pulled pork or turkey, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, roll, beverage and cookie.

Tickets are $13 and available from any drumline student or at the door. For more information, contact Tonia Beavers or Kathryn Barr by emailing to bjdrumline@gmail.com.

Assistant band director Leigh Thomas directs the drumline. Doyle Thornton is band director at Bob Jones.

This season, Bob Jones Indoor Drumline has entered two contests and soon will travel to Bowling Green, Ky. for the Mid-South Percussion Championship, sponsored by Winter Guard International (WGI). The drumline also will compete in the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit Championships (SCGC) in Nashville and the WGI Percussion World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.

In addition, Bob Jones hosted the MadTown Indoor Throwdown on Feb. 23 when SCGC judges graded about 50 drumlines and color guards from Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi. “Our score increased almost 11 points from our initial competition in January,” Barr said.
