MADISON – In addition to Susie Masotti’s official announcement Sept. 15 that she would leave her position as Madison Chamber of Commerce executive director after nearly three years, the Chamber is losing another one of its four staff members and announced new leadership for the 2014 fiscal year.

Events & Marketing Coordinator Janice Alex, who accepted the job with the Chamber early in the summer, is leaving. She will stay through the Small Business Awards presentation on Oct. 16.

At the Chamber’s monthly luncheon on Sept. 18 – Masotti’s last as executive director – the new board was introduced.

Amanda Weaver of ServisFirst Bank in Huntsville will be succeeding Steven Levy as Board president on Oct. 1. Weaver was previously vice president. Madison Hospital President Mary Lynne Wright will step into the vice president role. David Barrett of Barrett Insurance Associates is the new treasurer, and Joe Knoch of Air Essentials will stay at treasurer.

Beth Martin, one of the directors-at-large, will be heading up the search committee to find Masotti’s replacement along with Levy and Mayor Troy Trulock.

“These moves for both [Masotti and Alex] are good for them,” Martin said. “There’s no wrong-doing, no animosity within the Chamber.”

According to the official press release written by Steven Levy, Masotti “decided for personal reason that she needs to move back to North Carolina.”

Alex accepted a job with Martin Advertising out of Birmingham and will work from home.

“We’re sad to see them leave, because they’ve both been phenomenal for the Chamber,” Martin said, adding, “We’re looking for a couple of more great people to take the Chamber forward.”

Directors-at-large will remain: Frank Williams, Cindy Sensenberger, Lori King-Taylor, Steve Levy, Jim Pride, and Beth Martin. District 1 City Councilman Tim Holcombe remains the liaison between the Chamber and the City.
