Rodney Dirk Bains October 7, 1949 to April 13, 2015

Rodney Dirk Bains, age 65, of Madison died on Monday, April 13, 2015.

Mr. Bains was born in Bloomington, Illinois and was a graduate of Culver Military Academy. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and held a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was employed by the United States Social Security Administration for 31 years and served as the District Manager of the Social Security Office in Cullman, Alabama. He also worked as a disability advocate with Hunter Horton and Associates for 10 years.

Mr. Bains is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Bains and Lavila Bains. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Deborah Staples Bains; his children, son Jason Bains and wife Kristin, son Jarrod Bains and wife Allison, and daughter Ashley Bains; his beloved granddaughter Emma Bains; his brother Jeffrey Bains; his stepmother Geraldine Bains, stepbrother Daniel Bains and wife Rhonda, and stepsister Shana Barnett and husband Steve; and numerous other loving friends and family.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 3:00 at Saint Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Madison with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (www.avmf.org), 1931 N. Meacham Road, Suite 100, Schaumburg, IL 60173.
