MADISON- Bob Jones wrapped up the regular season on Jan. 31 with wins by the boys (63-49) and girls (49-43) over Muscle Shoals.

Bob Jones honored five seniors on the girls team. K.K. Bullard, Kiaira Moore, Diondra Douglas, Lauren Senwo, and Lauren Bates all got playing time in their final home game.

“This senior group is a very special group,” said Coach Andre Reynolds. “As freshman they played for Coach Petty and I had them the next three years. So just to see them mature and improve for the better is special for me. It’s always good to go out with a win in your final home game.”

The girls now head to Sparkman for the Class 7A, Area 8 Tournament.

They will face Buckhorn at 7:30 on Feb. 7. Sparkman the #1 seed will play James Clemens at 6 p.m. Losers of these games season is over.

Also honored were four seniors on the men’s team; Deonte Gray, Milkyle Stewart, TD Farris, and Jaquille Levins.

“We’re real proud of these young men,” said Bob Jones head basketball coach Luther Tiggs. “They have allowed us to set the tone going forward. I’ve only coached these men for about 4 months but they have responded. Its important for them to set the right example on and off the court because a lot of the younger players look to them.”

Deonte Gray and TD Farris revived their careers under Tiggs and have played major roles for the team this year.

“Fortunate for them they’re getting an opportunity to get some quality minutes that they haven’t had an opportunity in the past, not their fault. They have earned the right to be on the court and they have played well. They helped put us in position as a #2 seed, this is their night and we want it to be enjoyable for them.”

Stewart came in from football and has played better than expected becoming the teams leading three-point shooter.

Levins got his first start and the most playing time he has got all season.

The area tournament for the men starts Feb. 9 with Bob Jones against Buckhorn at 5:30 and #1 seed Sparkman against James Clemens following.

The championship games will be at Sparkman starting at 5:30 Feb. 11.
