Loretta Bartz deployed to Bosnia, South Korea and Iraq

MADISON – Captain Loretta Bartz decided to enter the U.S. Armed Forces when she was quite young.

Her first step was entering the Army ROTC program at the University of Kentucky in 1997. Bartz was commissioned in the U.S. Army in 1997.

After graduating from college, Bartz completed her first Army training followed by the Ordnance Officer Basic Course at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. “From there, I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas,” she said.

“I was deployed to Bosnia for SFOR as a maintenance team attached to 10th Mtn. Division and then returned to Fort Hood,” she said. “After that, I attended the Combined Logistics Officers Advance Course, which was based at Fort Lee, Va. but also had classes at Aberdeen and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.”

“Next, I went to 2 Infantry Division in South Korea. I then went back to Fort Hood, which included a deployment to Iraq with 4 Infantry Division,” Bartz said. She left active military service in 2005.

Loretta Bartz is married to retired Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3) Charles Bartz. “We moved to Madison because of the logistics job opportunities, but Madison is also a lot closer to home for me. I grew up in Clinton County, Kentucky,” she said.

Loretta Bartz attended the University of Kentucky and majored in mechanical engineering. Currently, she works as an analyst at CALIBRE. Charles Bartz also is a business analyst. “We have a toddler, Lafe,” she said.

The Bartz family attends Madison Church of Christ. They volunteer at church by participating in the preschool families’ activities.

For hobbies in her free time, she likes to work with crafts, along with reading and involvement with “all things concerning Kentucky Wildcats basketball.”
