Rotary Club to host annual ‘Parrots of the Caribbean’ event this Saturday
MADISON — The Rotary Club of Madison will host its 16th annual Parrots of the Caribbean event this Saturday, Aug. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Insanity Complex.
The event, which has grown from a Rotarians-only occasion to having more than 700 guests from across the Southeast, will celebrate the club’s achievements in supporting the local and international community. The club credits the contributions of local businesses and families with helping them achieve these goals.
“Parrotheads and music lovers everywhere” are invited to don their island-themed attire and enjoy an evening of music, dancing, food and drink. Beverages will include soft drinks, domestic and craft beers, wine and spirits.
Two bands—Calypso Vision and Juice—will provide the evening’s musical entertainment. The featured act will be Juice, whose music includes a mix of R&B, funk, party and dance. Calypso Vision is a rock ’n’ roll band with an island theme that “will get you started dreamin’ of good times and riches as well as boats, bars and beaches.”
A prize basket tent will also be onsite for guests to donate for a chance to win. Prizes will include “something for every taste,” from wine to reading to camp to golf. Some of the winners will be able to enjoy big-ticket prizes like a weekend getaway, dinner at a popular restaurant and an instant wine cellar.
All donations and proceeds will be invested in Madison through the Rotary Club’s projects. This year, they plan to put the funds toward a new Downtown City Park, complete with a pavilion and amphitheater.
Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased online through Eventbrite, the Facebook event page or parrots.madisonalrotary.org. Tickets purchased at the door will be $30. Food is included in the ticket price.
The event will be held rain or shine. Attendees must be at least 21 years old with a valid ID. Coolers and outside food and drinks are prohibited. No animals, except for service animals, will be allowed. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
The Insanity Complex is located at 100 Skate Park Drive in Madison.
