EVENING UPDATE: Madison County has third reported death from COVID-19
MADISON COUNTY – Madison County has a new reported death this evening, bringing the total to three so far. It has not yet been confirmed by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH).
There are a total of 2,810 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama, according to the ADPH as of Thursday, April 9, at 5:15 p.m. There are currently 454,304 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 16,267 deaths and 24,962 recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Madison County has 177 confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of 1,084 total tests and two confirmed death out of three reported; Limestone County has 35 cases out of 485 tests and no deaths.
Of 77 deaths reported statewide, 48 have been confirmed as due to the virus across the state by the ADPH. The department also reports 333 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19.
The number of total tested statewide is 20,605*, according to the ADPH.
*Total tested primarily represents tests that were satisfactorily performed by the ADPH Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL), along with some data from commercial labs. Commercial labs are required, by law, to report positive tests to ADPH. Some commercial labs do not report negative specimens.
