Monday COVID-19 update: Madison County still shows slow growth

MADISON – The number of new COVID-19 cases increased in Madison County by 13 cases since last Monday. The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) shows that 247 people in the county have tested positive since reporting began in March. Limestone has 57, which has only increased by 12 since last week.

There have been four deaths associated with COVID-19 in Madison County and none for Limestone.

There are a total of 9,889 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama, an increase of nearly 2,000 over the past week. Nearby Marshall County, which includes Arab, Guntersville and Albertville, still continues to be a hotbed for coronavirus with 558 cases.

There have been 103 more deaths statewide from COVID-19 since last Monday, bringing the total to 393. The department also reports 1,244 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since March 13.

As we wrap up the weekend, the data trends from ADPH at the state-wide level (above) and Madison County area remain about the same (below). There were 504 additional positive test results since Friday and 10 additional COVID-19 deaths in Alabama over this Mother’s Day weekend bringing our total deaths to 393 and the mortality rate for positive test cases in Alabama to 3.97%. – Innova Primary Care
