Home for the holidays

Discovery Middle School to host holiday tour
Thomas Tingle
Record Managing Editor
The Discovery Middle School Band will host its sixth annual Holiday Tour of Homes on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Band Director Johnny Nash said the tour is going to be held in the Clifts Cove subdivision off Hughes Road and several other homes in Madison will be included.
"This is a fundraiser we hold each Christmas and it gets larger each year," Nash said. "This is a community event. People can get dressed up and go look at these beautiful homes and even get Christmas decorating ideas."
Nash said a group of band students will be on hand playing Christmas music and refreshments, along with maps of the tour, will be provided.
"As a treat to those who take the tour, we will have a group of carolers in one of the homes. We won't tell you which home it is, so you will have to go through each one to find them," Nash said.
New to the tour this year will be a craft show that will be held in the Clifts Cove Clubhouse. Door prizes will be presented as well.
Nash said all proceeds from the event will go toward funding needs for the band.
"We have more than 200 students involved in our Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Advanced Band," Nash said. "We enjoy putting this together and the community has been very supportive of it."
Tickets for the tour will be going on sale soon. Band students will be selling the tickets.
"We welcome everyone to come and enjoy the holiday festivities that are planned and the beautiful homes that will be decorated for the occasion," Nash said.
For more information about the tour, call Kathy Bradford, coordinator, at 837-7587.
