Patriots’ boys, girls sweep Red Raiders

Levi Randolph scored a game-high 20 points Tuesday to lead the Bob Jones Patriots to victory over the Decatur Red Raiders, 65-53.

Randolph got the Patriots, and the crowd, going in the first quarter when he saved a ball from going out bounds and delivered a no-look behind-the-back pass to Jeffrey Moss, who dunked the ball and brought the crowd to its feet.

The Patriots opened up a seven-point lead to start the second quarter, but Darius Nelson took command of the game for the Raiders, giving Decatur a 30-29 halftime lead.

In the second half the Patriots took charge and wore down the Raiders, opening up a 48-41 third-quarter lead before pulling away in the final quarter.

Offensively for the Patriots, Moss followed Randolph with 17 points, while Kyle Dennis finished with 10.

Reggie Ragland finished with nine points and nine rebounds for Bob Jones.

For Decatur, Nelson had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Patrick Hereford with 13 points.

Three Bob Jones Lady Patriots scored in double digits Tuesday to take the victory over Decatur, 68-37.

The Patriots opened a commanding lead in the first half and extended it to 26 in the third quarter before sealing the 31-point victory.

Jasmine Jones had a game-high 17 points, followed by Tierra Jones with 14 points and nine rebounds, Rikeyah McKinnon with 13 points and Andrea Matthews with 12.

Katie Colson had six points, while Joidon Jennings had six assists.

For Decatur, Kendra McCloud and Sadrina Hood each finished with 15 points.

The Patriots will take on cross-town rival Madison Academy Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The Mustangs defeated the Patriots in the last match-up in the finals of the Huntsville Times Classic.
