Bob Jones Curriculum Fair to be held this Thursday

Bob Jones High School Assistant Principal Julie Finley said she is expecting a record turnout for the 6th annual BJHS Curriculum Fair, this Thursday, Feb. 17 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bob Jones cafeteria.

The fair will highlight the various program offerings available to Bob Jones students.  “It’s our teachers’ time to draw interest to their classes, for their program to shine,” Finley said. “This will be an opportunity to meet with counselors, gain orientation information and explore the various curricular choices that BJHS has to offer.”

At the fair, students can find out about the different electives, core classes, as well as career-track classes.

“This is a prime chance for parents to see all the elective options available and better understand how a student’s choice of electives can support his future goals,” said Lesa Clough, World Language department chair.  “Parents are always surprised to learn that our World Language courses extend to the 5th and 6th levels and to realize the community service opportunities that exist through participation in our foreign language clubs linked to our courses.”

Jeremy Raper, lead teacher in the Engineering Academy, said the Curriculum Fair serves as a way to help understand more about what the school offers.

“It’s a great time to talk to both student and parents, to answer their questions about our program,” Raper said. “And to tell them what they can expect and let them know about other academic related competitions to our academy such as Rocketry and Robotics.”

Parents and students will also have the opportunity to meet with administrators and counselors.
