Triana holds city’s first photography contest

With the click of a button, contestants can participate in the town of Triana’s first Town’s Photography Contest.

Contestants will be placed in one of three categories: professional, amateur and juniors (18 and under).

The town will be accepting all submissions which will be eligible for first, second or third place awards within each category.

“A picture is worth a thousand words,” said Caudle. “Our town has so many interesting faces and places. My hope is that someone with an artistic eye will be able to capture the essence through photography.”

Multiple entries per person will be accepted.

All photos must be 8 x 10 inches in size and must be accompanied by an electronic copy. The photo submissions can be either color or black and white. All entries should include a brief description of when and where the photo was taken and why the subject of the photo is unique to the town of Triana. Applicants should also provide the first and last names of any human subjects within the photograph. Photos must be taken by or be the sole property of the submitting applicant. No photo can be digitally manipulated in any way.

The applicant’s name, address, phone number and chosen category must be labeled on the back of the picture with the description.

All entries will become property of the Town of Triana and will be eligible for use in promotional literature or other promotional activities. Photographers may or may not be credited for all photos used in any promotional material. The decision of the judges will be final. Contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entrant and/or photo. Judges and their families may not enter.

Deadline for entries is July 27, 2011 at 4 p.m., and winners will be notified by Aug. 15, 2011.

For more information on the contest, copy of release form and address for submission of photos, please contact Sharon Humphrey at (256) 772-0151.
