Heisman trophy winner, Mark Ingram, wrecks in Huntsville

Heisman trophy winner and former Alabama star running back Mark Ingram collided with an 18-wheeler Friday morning, just before 1 a.m. on Leeman Ferry Road in Huntsville.

Both airbags deployed in Ingram’s two-door 2008 Infinity, but Huntsville Police said he was not injured. Officers said his girlfriend was also in the car. She, too, was unharmed.

The driver of the truck, Paul Clewis, wasn’t hurt either.

Shortly after the crash, an entourage of people arrived to pick up the star football player. He left the scene before his Infinity was towed away.

Huntsville Police say preliminary reports indicate drugs and alcohol weren’t involved.

Ingram was in Huntsville signing autographs with Bama teammate Julio Jones Thursday at Redstone Arsenal and later at Sports Vision Restaurant.
