Bob Jones grills the Panthers

Bob Jones continued it dominance as they beat fellow 6A team, the Huntsville Panthers, as they clashed for possession of first place of the 6A division on a cold Friday night.

Bob Jones entered the game undefeated and was in a good position to repeat as 6A champions, but knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

The game had tons of playoff contentions at risk.

The Patriots’ offense was precise in the first quarter, with some good runs between Nick Beavers and Kevin Wright. They were able to strike first with a 25-yard run by Beavers. Leaving the score 7-0.

Huntsville wanted the same success result as Bob Jones, but they had other plans for the Panthers as holding penalties hurt Huntsville’s chances of scoring.

With the ball back, the Patriots’ offense got rolling again as quarterback Jeffrey Moss was accurate with his passes on the drive. With 5:05 left in the first quarter, Moss found Nick Richardson for a 45-yard touchdown. Making the score 14-0.  This wouldn’t be the last time these two test the Panthers secondary.

Huntsville took the ball back, but couldn’t execute their plays, once again going three and out.

Moss found Richardson for a 35-yard touchdown as they make the Huntsville secondary look like scrubs. Making the score 21-0 in the second quarter

Huntsville was getting a little frustrated as they are once again stopped on offense and gave the ball back to Bob Jones.

Bob Jones seemed to be having fun, especially Moss and Richardson. With 6:13 left in the second quarter, Moss finds Richardson for a 40-yard touchdown adding to the score 28-0.

Huntsville finally got the ball moving, but their party was cut short after Dez Dennis intercepted a pass and gave the red-hot Patriots’ offense the ball once again. But, the Patriots were not able to capitalize and miss a field goal that could have sealed the deal and gave Bob Jones the win.

After halftime, Huntsville was stopped on their first drive, which didn’t come as a surprise.

The Patriots’ offense was as the Panthers’ defense shut down there offense on their first drive from halftime, but they were able to salvage a field goal making the score 31-0

Huntsville finally got their offense going and scored a rushing touchdown putting them on the board 31-7.

Bob Jones had the game on lock, but wanted to try something new. On the fourth down, Darius Tibbs ran a 50-yard punt fake, making the score 37-7.

There was a late push by the Panthers as they scored another rushing touchdown. They went for two making the final score 37-15.
