ACS hotline important during holidays

Members of The American Cancer Society want you to be aware of the 24/7 help hotline available.

The ACS is offering information and support through its national hotline.

“When a cancer patient wakes up and they can’t call their doctor and they may be having a sympton or side effect of some sort, they can call the number and talk to the nurse,” said Community Representative Celia Warner. “Any question that they have any time of day, they can call and talk to someone.”

Callers can also receive information about different types of cancer, cancer treatments and other topics.

“It’s a great resource for cancer patients, their families or anyone who has questions,” Warner said. “We just want people to know that we are here for them, even for the holidays.”

The number to the National Cancer Information Center (NCIC) is 1-800-227-2345. The line is open year round.

The Society’s National Cancer Information Center can also accommodate Spanish-speaking individuals. The NCIC uses a translation service to assist those who speak other languages, ensuring that all callers can access and receive accurate cancer-related information.
