Appleton learning offering area scholarships

BY AMY BUTLER

Appleton Learning is awarding a $5,000 scholarship for one lucky Madison County student who can increase his or her ACT score from the first test try to the last.

Through the ongoing efforts of Appleton and its staff, they are consistently encouraging local youth to do their best for their future. High school students are taking the  ACT and/or SAT tests and trying to score their highest to be able to get into the college of their choice. With the help of Appleton Learning and the student’s efforts, these tests can be a success.

Donna Clark, guidance coordinator for Huntsville City Schools adds, “Students should take the ACT once in their junior year and then again in their senior year of high school. This is because many students improve the second time around.”

Appleton offers small group settings to provide students with ACT and/or SAT test preparation. The process is easy and efficient as students will take two full-length practice tests to be reviewed on how they can improve their studying in hopes of a larger test score. Appleton will offer customized and individual coaching sessions on ways to advance and give these students the opportunity to increase their scores with each test they take.

“At Appleton we believe that most students rarely attain their full potential academically, and we are focused on changing that.  This scholarship is a challenge to Madison County students to increase their ACT scores as much as possible…and thereby increase their chances of college success,” explains Glenn Clayton, CEO of Appleton Learning.

In order to apply for this scholarship opportunity, go to www.appletonlearning.com and fill out the application available. The deadline to apply is March 12. The scholarship is based on the increase in ACT scores from a student’s first test score to their final test score. Should a tie occur, each student will have to submit a short essay to determine the final winner.

Appleton Learning has two convenient locations in Madison and Jones Valley and can be reached at 256.325.2616 for more information.
