Election season gearing up in county

BY LIZ CUNEO / SPECIAL TO THE RECORD

The first of four elections being held in the state of Alabama this year will be Tuesday, March 13.  This is the state primary election.

You will have the opportunity to vote for local offices that will include county commissioners and probate judges.  If you are new to the area, and have not yet registered to vote, you may find a voter registration form at all city halls and public libraries.  The last day to register to be able to vote in the primary election is March 2.

This year, the primary will occur during spring break for the Madison City School system only.  If you plan to take advantage of spring break, you will need to apply for an absentee ballot so you can vote.

For Madison County residents, visit Madisoncountycircuitclerk.org/absentee.  You can download your absentee ballot from that site or you can go in person to the court house to vote.  For further information, you may call the Circuit Clerk’s office at (256) 532-3668.

For those Madison city residents who live in Limestone County, please call the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office at (256) 216-3865.  You can request an absentee ballot be mailed to you or you may go in person to the Limestone County Courthouse, Circuit Court Clerk’s Office to vote.

The deadline to make an application for an absentee ballot is March 8.  Please remember that in both counties identification will be required.
