New taco has local fans

Taco Bell and Frito-Lay have teamed up to launch a reinvented taco.

Taco Bell reinvented its most popular menu item and introduced the Doritos Locos Tacos on March 8.

Taco Bell reinvented its most popular menu item and introduced the Doritos Locos Tacos on March 8.

This taco is made with 100 percent premium seasoned beef, crisp lettuce, diced juicy red ripe tomatoes, real cheddar cheese and topped with reduced-fat sour cream, in a shell made from Nacho Cheese Doritos Chips.

Madison Taco Bell store Felicia Spinnet said customers received word of the new taco before it reached the restaurant.

“Many of our customers were excited about the reinvention, we have customer’s that always get the latest news, especially from Facebook and Twitter,” said Spinnet.

Fifty years ago, Taco Bell introduced the crunchy taco, and the company wanted to make sure this taco launch becomes the biggest product introduction in its history.

Spinnet said the company decided to feature the Doritos locos tacos because many people already liked buying the Doritos chips with their meals, this time, the company decided to incorporate the nacho cheese Doritos chip on the outside.

“This new taco should sell well, it has now become a permanent item on the menu and you can even substitute a taco combo for the Doritos taco,” she added.

Spinnet said customers enjoy the taco because they have the choice of a regular or supreme combo with any meat choice.

“The Doritos locos tacos looked so good on television I had to try them. I’ve had four of them and I might get some more tomorrow,” said customer John Woolford.

Steve Bonswor said he’s glad he tried one they and they are “tasty and yummy.”

“Everyone should try them,” he said.

With the reinvention of the new taco, Doritos locos taco it just might lead to the next successful product after the Crunchwrap Supreme.
