Spring festival coming to town

Spring Fling will be free and open to the public.

A group of local merchants have put their time and efforts to create a new Madison festival.

The Village Shoppes of Madison’s Spring Fling Festival will be held Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Publix parking lot located off County Line Road.

“It’ll be a community-focused event, especially for the kids,” said Chuck Coan, festival chairman and owner of iFit Fitness. “We all jumped on the opportunity to have a Madison-sponsored event for the community.”

Organizers are putting together live music, games, food and vendor booths.

There will also be displays from Madison Fire and Rescue, Madison Police Department, U.S. Army, Madison City Schools, Madison Hospital and more.

“We’re making this as community oriented as possible,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of strong support from local businesses and our booths are filling up fast.”

The committee is still looking for performers and sponsors for Madison Idol, a talent competition.

“That part will be one of our main attractions,” he said. “The public will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite performer, who will go home with a big cash prize.”

There will be craft tables, a kid’s zone, car show, inflatables, and school zone and business events.

“There will be something for everyone of all ages,” he said.

Spring Fling is free and open to the public. It will be located at 12120 County Line Road County Line Road. The rain date is May 20 from noon to 5 p.m.
