Arc raises $200,000

The Arc staff and clients volunteer at the benefit each year.

On Friday, The Arc celebrated its 13 fundraiser, which was founded by CSC employee, Mike Scherer.

This year’s benefit raised $276,417.16 to support programs that help children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Each year founding sponsor, CSC and other organizations help continue Scherer’s legacy with help from the entire community.

“Working on the golf tournament allows me to support an organization that makes a difference in the lives of residents who have unique challenges,” said CSC’s Amy Dilocker.

Dilocker is a former special education teacher and said this benefit holds a special place in her heart.

“Many local and national corporations, organizations and private citizens contributed to the fundraiser,” said Susan Klingel, executive director of The Arc. “More than 300 clients at The Arc have access to resources that help to enhance their lives and deliver good service to the community. We sincerely appreciate the support we’ve received over the years and look forward to continuing to help our clients and the community at large.”

The benefit was held at the Links at Redstone where 244 golfers took to two courses in hopes of winning the tournament’s first prize, a gift certificate for the Redstone Pro Shop. Some of the players were Army veterans and represented local businesses. Senator Arthur Orr – a big supporter of The Arc and its commitment to serving residents of Madison County – served as the honorary marshall.

“CSC is proud to support this event and personally, I was pleased to see so many golfers representing the government, industry and civic organizations come together for such a good cause,” said Karl Spinnenweber, vice president and manager at CSC. ”

The benefit has raised over more $2.5 million in the history of the event.
