Barbara Jean Galgay; Nov. 3, 2012

Barbara Jean Galgay, 70, of Madison, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3 from respiratory distress following a recent surgery.

Barbara was active in the Madison community and her church, Asbury UMC in Madison. She was involved in a sewing ministry, Stephen’s Ministry, Kairos Prison Ministry, Open Door Sunday School, Alabama Emmaus, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and various bridge clubs. She worked with preparations for opening Madison Hospital.

Barbara was a devoted wife of 48 years, nurturing mother and zealously loved her grandchildren. She loved the beach, travel, and being surrounded by her family.

Survivors include husband, John J Galgay, Jr.; daughter, Patricia J. Roth (Phil) of Anderson, S.C.: son, John J. Galgay, III (Jodi), of Irving, Texas; daughter, Sharon G. Ketcham (Geoffrey) of Plaistow, N.H.; granddaughters, Madeline and Rebecca Roth, Riley Galgay, and Anne Ketcham; grandsons, Conor Galgay and Mason Ketcham; and sister, Janet Pitman of Helotes, Texas.

Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Asbury United Methodist Church. A memorial service will immediately follow with Dr. Alan Weatherly officiating.
