Gene Thomas Smith; Nov. 7, 2012

Gene Thomas Smith, 81, of Harvest, formerly of Madison, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Mr. Smith was born in Nashville, Tenn. to the late Harry N. and Mamie F. Flynt Smith.

Mr. Smith attended Hume Fogg Technical and Vocational School. He served in the USMC during the Korean War and worked for NASA and MSFC for 38 years as a program analyst. He was a member of the American Legion and Madison Church of Christ. Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ann Smith; children, Kim Smith (Teresa), Karen Whiteley (Raymond), Kevin Smith (Martie), Keith Smith (Johnnie), and Kelly Smith; sister, Alice Smith; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service immediately will follow with Tom Russell and Mike Winkler officiating. Burial will be in Faith Memorial Park. (www.laughlinservice.com)
